We are looking for a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer / DBA to support and lead initiatives across complex enterprise database environments. This role involves working on critical legacy systems and ensuring performance, stability, and scalability across multiple platforms.Hiring: Mainframe Systems Programmer / DBA (ADABAS / IMS / CICS)Location: Downey, CA (Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite Required)Duration: 12–24+ Month ContractIndustry: Public SectorImportant Note (Please Read Before ApplyingThis is a Systems Programmer / DBA roleNOT a Mainframe Application Developer roleProfiles focused only on COBOL development/application coding will NOT be consideredKey ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain mainframe system software (z/OS environment)Administer and support databases: DB2, IMS (DB/DC), ADABASPerform database upgrades, tuning, monitoring, and troubleshootingHandle backup/recovery, reorgs, replication, and capacity planningProvide technical guidance to development and operations teamsLead and support high-impact system upgrade and enhancement projects.Required SkillsStrong experience with:IBM z/OSCICS, IMS DB/DCDB2, IMS, ADABASJCL, SMP/EWorking knowledge of:COBOL, REXX, Assembler (support level, not development-heavy)Familiarity with tools such as:BMC Tools, File Manager, CA Spool, Natural/SuperNatural, EntireXExperience in database performance tuning, system-level troubleshootingIdeal Candidate7+ years in Mainframe Systems Programming / DBA roles.Experience working in large enterprise or government environments.Proven ability to lead projects and support production systems.Strong understanding of multiple DBMS architectures
