Sr. SCADA Engineer @ Reno, NVJob SummaryThe Senior SCADA Engineer leads the design, development, implementation, and optimization of SCADA systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role provides technical leadership, ensures scalable and secure system architecture, and partners cross-functionally to deliver high-performance manufacturing solutions that support quality, cost, and delivery goals.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop SCADA/HMI applications using Ignition SCADA (Vision & Perspective modules)Create reusable templates, UDTs, and best practices to enable scalability across lines and plantsCollaborate with Controls, MES, IT, and Process Engineering teamsConduct code reviews and provide mentorship for junior engineers and contractorsLead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis related to SCADA systemsSupport change management activities including testing, validation, and deploymentDevelop and maintain technical documentation (architecture diagrams, SOPs, HMI standards)Ensure compliance with IT/OT cybersecurity and regulatory requirementsContribute to SCADA, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 roadmapsLead development, implementation, and maintenance of standardized, user-friendly HMI screens for advanced manufacturing processesIntegrate SCADA systems with PLCs, field devices, and industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT)Design and optimize SCADA data architectures, historians, and transactional data flows using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Ignition databasesIntegrate SCADA with third-party and enterprise systems including vision, quality, lab/QC, event streaming, REST/MQTT, and UNS platformsRequired QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fieldExperience & Skills8+ years of SCADA/HMI engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentStrong expertise with Ignition SCADA and PLC integrationProficiency in Python scriptingStrong database experience (SQL, PostgreSQL)Experience designing high-availability systemsBackground in high-volume manufacturingSolid understanding of electrical hardware, schematics, and sequence controlStrong cross-functional and global collaboration skillsFirst-principles, analytical approach to problem solvingProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Working-level fluency in English (read, write, speak)Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and protocols (ISA, Modbus, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, MQTT, OPC UA)Preferred QualificationsExperience with industrial vision systemsPLC programming and troubleshooting experienceKnowledge of ISA-88 / PackMLFamiliarity with U.S. environmental regulations and UL standardsPhysical & Safety RequirementsAbility to work on the manufacturing floor; PPE required as needed, which may include Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, respirator, and safety eyewearPhysical demands include standing, walking, and lifting up to 35 lbs (team-lift for over 35 lbs)Benefits & PerksComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matching and immediate vestingPaid time off, holidays, parental and caregiver leaveTuition reimbursement and development programsAnnual bonus opportunityOnsite food options and transportation assistanceEmployee recognition programs and wellness resources
