DutiesAs a MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN, You WillAnalyze medical records for completeness, consistency, and compliance requirements.Perform Quality Assurance (QA) audit surveys of selected subjects related to tasks performed as identified by supervisor.Maintain unit files of AFRH Directives, HCS SOPs, policies and other directives for ready reference by unit staff.Initiate a variety of routine and stat laboratory test and special diagnostic tests (i.e., CT scan, ultrasound, x-ray, etc.).Schedule follow-up test, and annual examinations for AFRH Residents. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector orSpecialized Experience for the GS-05: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with medical terminology, medical records procedures, and techniques to organize resident charts; AND Reviewing medical records for accuracy and completeness.OR You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:Successfully completion of 4 years of education above the high school level. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.OR You may qualify by a combination of education and experience as follows: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.EducationEducation Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
