Title: Environmental TechnicianStarting Pay: $22/hr depending on experienceSchedule: Mon - Fri: 530a - 2p (or until job is done) Saturdays are optional but encouraged: 6a - 2pLocation: Queens, NYLooking for someone that is willing to work hard and with waste If they have environmental experience they will look at that as well. Qualifications: Interested in working in hazardous waste fieldSelf-motivated person with the desire to learnIf they have Environmental experience that is a bonus but not requiredMust have a valid driver's license and reliable form of transportationManager NotesThis is mostly labor work They are working with local schools right now picking up unused sanitizer, paint, bulk waste, and cleaning out tanksThese 200-600 gallon tanks contain lime stone for filtration which need to be changed out with fresh stoneThey will shovel the stone out and then put new in They also do lab decon projectsOur client, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Environmental Technician for their Astoria, NY team. Experience is preferred but we will train the right people!Responsibilities: Perform universal/chemical waste disposal, neutralization tank remediation, chemical inventory, lab services support, confined space entries, chemical decontamination, underground and aboveground storage tank cleaning and closure, sample collection, separator cleaning and emergency response servicesShow determination/eagerness to learn and retain a basic knowledge of daily work practicesDevelop an understanding of DOT, EPA & OSHA regulations and Health and Safety PracticesUnderstand and execute all required paperworkPickup and delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials with a sharp focus on customer serviceBe able to wear a respirator for 4 to 6 hours for client specific projectsProvide clients with high-quality and professional customer serviceRoutinely perform vehicle pre- and post-trip inspectionsAssist Supervisor, Leadman and other Equipment Operators as requestedBasic Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalentBasic knowledge of, or interest in, hazardous waste fieldSelf-motivated person with the desire to learnSuccessful completion of OSHA/ DOT physical examination which includes drug and alcohol screeningMust be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship Must have a valid driver's license and reliable form of transportationWillingness to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class with Hazmat Endorsement Must be willing to consent to pre-employment physical and drug screen (inclusive of THC) Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment This is a Safety Sensitive PositionMust be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basisThe Environmental Technician frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive. Preferred Requirements: Prior relevant industry experience Active HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certificationPossess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class with Hazmat Endorsement
