Part Time Senior Accounting Consultant

Part-Time Senior Accountant (Flexible Schedule | High-Impact Role) About the Opportunity Join an early-stage, high-growth startup where you’ll have a direct impact on building the accounting function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on Senior Accountant who enjoys creating structure, improving processes, and partnering with leadership in a fast-moving environment. In this role, you’ll balance day-to-day accounting with meaningful process improvements—helping lay the foundation for scalable growth as the company evolves. What You’ll Do Own the Month-End Close Lead a streamlined, two-week monthly close process Prepare journal entries including payroll, allocations, and amortization Maintain prepaid and fixed asset schedules Support quarterly revenue recognition (government grant) Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting Partner with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors Manage Accounts Payable & Procure-to-Pay Oversee ~100 invoices/month, including PO matching (2- and 3-way) Manage the AP inbox, ensuring timely processing and coding Handle service and construction-related invoices Run weekly payment cycles and maintain strong vendor relationships Help bring consistency and efficiency to the P2P workflow Drive Process Improvements & Systems Enhancements Evaluate and streamline current accounting and P2P processes Improve integrations between ADP and QuickBooks Online Strengthen controls, documentation, and SOPs Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual work Collaborate with leadership to build scalable systems and workflows What Your Day Looks Like Review and process invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, balance sheet) Maintain key schedules (prepaids, fixed assets, amortization) Support grant-related cost tracking and reporting Execute weekly AP runs and contribute to month-end close Continuously identify and implement process improvements What You Bring Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience) Strong experience with procure-to-pay and contract-based accounting Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting systems Process improvement and/or systems integration experience Advanced Excel skills Preferred: Startup or high-growth company experience Experience with P2P tools Exposure to government grants, cost tracking, or contract billing (construction/services) Why This Role Stands Out Flexible, part-time schedule with meaningful ownership High visibility and direct partnership with leadership Opportunity to build and improve processes from the ground up A chance to make a lasting impact in a growing organization Who Will Thrive Here You’re someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and making things better.
