Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/20/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 20, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Cardiac Telemetry unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience and an active NC or compact RN license. Details Cardiac Telemetry unit serving as the primary cardiac and stroke unit in a hospital setting Patient population includes stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac catheterization, TR bands, unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA, and TIA patients Unit also cares for post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedure and cardiac intervention patients Unit may house COVID-positive patients on opti-flow and BiPAP during surge periods Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6; candidates must be comfortable managing up to 6 patients High-volume unit with a typical weekly patient turnover of 78–90 patients Specialized procedures include IV starts, cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.), PCI care, and titration of Cardizem drips Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, pulse oximetry, high-flow O2, non-rebreather masks, and BiPAP (chronic use only) EMR: Epic (Dimensions); additional systems include Pyxis and SBAR documentation 13-week contract; 36 hours per week only 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM Every other weekend required, along with 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period On-call required; frequency depends on patient census Floating required; frequency depends on patient census No block scheduling Self-scheduling with leadership oversight to balance unit needs Local candidates are accepted Requirements Active RN license — NC state or compact license required Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry nursing experience required Experience with high-acuity, fast-paced units and managing up to 6 patients required Proficiency in IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, and pre/post procedure cardiac care required Must pass an EKG test prior to start 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Additional Information Responsibilities include managing cardiac and stroke patients, titrating drips, and supporting high patient turnover with full assignment changeovers common within a single shift A team lead is available on the unit to assist with admissions and discharges Orientation is 36 hours; travelers must be available every day during the first week for hospital orientation RTO (time off) requests after booking are not permitted and cannot be arranged on-site — call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation Scrub colors: navy blue, white, or a combination; jackets must match uniform in color and material First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-688385.
