Sr HSE Engineer
Job DescriptionAs a Senior HSE Engineer (Environmental) at the Metropolis, Illinois site, you will serve as a functional HSE expert and will be responsible for implementation and assessment of the Environmental Compliance and Environmental Management System at the Metropolis Works Facility as well as providing technical support to other Solstice sites. This position will report to the Principal HSE Engineer and will partner with business leaders and employees to continuously improve HSE culture, awareness, and accountability in support of business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety, Environmental and Security guidelines, including air permitting, hazardous and solid waste, wastewater, and stormwater, SPCC, EPCRA, CERCLA, and management systems.Prepare Title V, NPDES and RCRA permit applications for submission to government agencies.Develop trend analysis to track air and wastewater system performance and as necessary, work with Operations and Maintenance to improve the site’s performance.Manage interactions and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, regulatory agencies, and outside support / consultants if needed. One goal of this role is to minimize the amount of work completed by consultants.Provide technical support on compliance with Environmental regulations, permits, and programs to the Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations, directly supporting and participating in Tier reporting structure through the plant.Prepare routine multi-media reports for submission to governmental agencies, customers, and corporate organizations, such as: Title V Compliance Certifications, RCRA groundwater monitoring, Toxic Release Inventories; Tier II reports, Solid waste reports, Hazardous Waste reports and Energy and sustainability metric reports.Determine waste characterization, waste profile management, developing and tracking shipping papersManage and championing various workflows by inputting environmental information into the corporate HSE management system, in a timely manner.Manage Environmental compliance audits and Environmental self-audits and corrective action items to timely closure.Develop, give presentations, and training to all site personnel.Participating in root cause investigations is necessary for environmental incidents.Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping.QualificationsYOU MUST HAVEMinimum 2 years of experience in a regulated industry2 years experience working with dataWE VALUEBachelor’s degree is required, preferably in engineering, manufacturing, environmental science, or related field. Emphasis in Environmental management (Air, Water, and Waste) preferredTitle V Air Permit, NPDES permit & RCRA permit experienceTechnical writing experienceWorking knowledge of local and Federal Environmental regulationsManufacturing industry experienceU.s. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
