Substitute School Bus Driver

MUST HAVE A Valid South Carolina Bus Driver’s License. POSITION IS PART-TIME FOR A SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER A BACKGROUND/SLED CHECK WILL BE COMPLETED ON EACH CANDIDATE. CANDIDATES WITH INCIDENTS ON THE SLED CHECK IN THE PAST TEN YEARS OR WITH INCIDENTS THAT MIGHT IMPACT JOB DUTIES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Bus Driver Qualifications Must be at least 21 Years-old Good health (required physical examination annually). Valid SC Driver’s License No more than four (4) points on license. No criminal record. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the performance responsibilities listed below. Position works approximately 180 to 185 days. Schedule allows for unpaid time off during the summer and periods throughout the school year (i.e. winter break, spring break, etc.). There is a possibility for summer work during scheduled summer camps. Performance Responsibilities Obeys all traffic laws. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. Reports undisciplined students to the proper persons. Keeps assigned bus clean. Keeps to assigned schedule and route. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Notifies the appropriate authorities in case of mechanical failure or lateness. Discharges students only at authorized stops. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. Transports only authorized students. Reports accidents and completes required reports. Enforces regulations against smoking, eating, and drinking on the bus. Reports to supervisor when driver’s license points exceed four (4). Prepares route descriptions.
