Based in Itasca, IL, EllisLudell emphasizes disciplined engineering and enduring partnerships to deliver innovative solutions.Role DescriptionEllisLudell is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and work closely with our Electrical Engineering Manager to support and expand our electrical and controls capabilities across industrial equipment. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on solving real-world problems, improving systems, and supporting both engineering and production.If you enjoy being close to the work - on the shop floor, in the details, and collaborating with a team - this is the role.What You'll Be DoingElectrical & Controls EngineeringDesign and support industrial control systemsCreate and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layoutsWork with PLCs (Allen-Bradley), HMIs, VFDs, and instrumentationTroubleshoot electrical and controls issues in both production and field environmentsSupport startup, commissioning, and system validationManufacturing & Shop Floor SupportSpend time on the shop floor supporting builds and troubleshooting (~20–30%)Partner with production to resolve issues and keep projects movingHelp improve consistency and quality in panel builds and wiringTeam Collaboration & SupportWork alongside the Electrical Engineering Manager and broader engineering teamProvide guidance to technicians and panel builders as neededSupport development of standards, documentation, and best practicesContinuous ImprovementIdentify recurring issues and help implement long-term solutionsSupport initiatives to improve reliability and performanceContribute to new product development and engineering improvementsWhat We’re Looking ForMust-Haves8+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experienceExperience with:PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)Control panels and wiringIndustrial electrical systemsBackground in manufacturing, OEM equipment, or automationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsComfortable working both in the office and on the shop floorNice to HaveUL standards / industrial electrical codesExperience mentoring or supporting junior team membersAutoCAD Electrical or similar toolsWhat Success Looks LikeYou become a trusted technical resource within the teamElectrical issues are resolved more efficientlyPanel build quality and consistency improveYou help strengthen the overall engineering functionCompensation & Benefits$95,000 – $120,000 base salaryFull benefits package
