Mechanical EngineerThe role of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide concepts, design, development, debugging, and support on new equipment, and complete systems. The Mechanical Engineer will work in a Lean team environment with other like-minded individuals to meet the needs of each customer. They will be responsible for meeting the project requirements and schedule and will report directly to the Director of Engineering. The Mechanical Engineer is expected to be initiative-taking with the ability to follow instructions (written and verbal) without extensive supervision. They will need a strong understanding of basic design and modern Engineering concepts as well as troubleshooting and customer relationship building skills. The Engineering Develops primary responsibilities will include designing new systems, modifying existing systems to resolve issues, creating new hardware designs, redesigning parts, and areas of the machines, improving overall performance, and working to create the best experience for our customers.Experience designing automated packaging equipment with both Solidworks and AutoCAD is critical to the success of this position. The types of equipment we have are as follows: Automated Bottle Packaging Machine (BPM), automated Linear Dispensing Machine (LDU) for high output Mail Order Pharmacies. We also have polybag, polybubble and paper based automated packaging systems for deployment in automated ecom direct to the consumer distribution centers. The Mechanical Engineer's primary responsibilities will include working in cooperation with Allen Bradley PLC engineers and software engineers on existing machines and making improvements along with taking on new equipment designs. In addition, if this person could have experience with AutoCAD designing workflow processes for mail order pharmacy systems and ecom distributions systems. Other experience that would prove valuable to Tension is working with conveyor and conveyor controls systems in distribution centers.Specific tasks may vary according to team structure. Tasks will typically include all the following:Work separately or within a team environment to meet Project deadlines under or on timeModifying Engineering to improve performance, fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade current systemsHave ability to work with sales and customers to design system from a blank slate and or modify a customer's existing system to be more efficientSystem testing and validation proceduresEngineering design and documentation developmentConsulting with departments or customers on project status and proposalsWorking with customers or departments on technical issues including Engineering system design and maintenanceDepending on the project have the ability to project manage the project from inception to completion of final signed off SAT documentation.Analyzing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing systemConsulting with software engineering staff to evaluate software-hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirementsDesigning and developing Engineering systems using scientific analysis and models to predict and measure outcomes and design consequencesPreparing reports on design project specifications, activities, or statusConferring with project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilitiesCreating and presenting training materialsMay be assigned to other duties on a temporary basis for the purpose of increasing personal competence, helping other TPA division personnel or training, and assisting less experienced personnel.Knowledge of the Engineering development life cycleDesire to work in a Lean environmentExperience working on a variety of Engineering projectsRobust design skills in development of new equipment, redesign of current equipment to improve system operational or development complete systemsProficient with either CAD or SolidWorks software with ability to convert PDFGood presentation skills to explain concepts and design to both internal team members and prospect / customers.Windows Presentation Foundation is a plusHas experience in warehouse design elements that includes, conveyors, sortation, print n apply, scanners, and other equipment used in a distribution center.Ability to manage/lead in situations with customers, team members, and contractors with composureGood oral and written communication skillsComputer knowledge and skills proficient with Excel, Word, and Power PointStrong time management skills and organization skills necessaryMust have a valid Driver's License and have a valid passport or eligible to get oneNote: This position will require travel. Most trips will be scheduled in advance.
