Position: Senior Systems Administrator Location: County Building Pittsburgh, PA 15219 Client: city of Pittsburgh Position Summary · Implements, installs, monitors, and documents city-wide IT systems infrastructure. This position serves as a lead for IT systems administration staff, while receiving supervision and management from the Senior Manager, Infrastructure. Qualifying Requirements: Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position.  You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status. WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show three (3) years of full-time systems administration experience which includes: performing systems maintenance, implementation and support. (Full-time is defined as 32 hours or more per week.  Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.) EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Administration, or a related field.  (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training). EQUIVALENCY:  Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above).  The Total Qualifying Requirement is seven (7) years.  (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training). Position Duties Provides support and maintenance city-wide for on premise, virtual (VMWare) and cloud compute and storage infrastructure including but not limited to Windows Server and Linux. Provides escalated support for client computer hardware, software (OS and Application), printers, communication devices, graphics and storage peripherals. Recommends and implements purchase and/or modification to existing computers and peripheral and network software and operating systems. Optimizes and automates, to the extent possible, account modification (new, transfer, departed employees) and preventive maintenance activities. Delivers regular reports on same. Maintains Active Directory and Group Policy infrastructure. Designs, develops, and maintains the City's disaster recovery co-location facility. Oversees and validates the City's backup and recovery model to maximize retention based on departmental policy. Leads and participates in projects and tasks. Oversees the team's ITSM ticket assignments and flow to ensure expectations for quality, speed and work balance are met. Reviews agreed upon team KPIs to assess System Administration team performance. Documents work processes. Acts as a liaison with consultants, vendors, outside agencies, City Departments, etc., on assigned projects. In coordination with CISO and CDO, focuses on operational resilience for business continuity preparation. Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: · At least one pertinent technical certification (RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrative Associate, VMWare Certified Professional) obtained in the past 5 years. Extensive knowledge of: Virtualization technologies, networking and storage concepts. Disaster recovery co-location and recovery planning including TTX, business continuity. Windows File share and Permission Management concepts. Scripting methodologies (PowerShell, Bash, Command, AutoIT). Server configuration, design, maintenance, performance and capacity planning. Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Email, HTTP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP protocols and applications. Some knowledge of: Relevant labor agreements and personnel policies and procedures. City and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to: Diagnose and troubleshoot in the areas of systems applications, operating hardware, operating software and networking. Provide effective technical assistance and training to colleagues and customers. Supervise, monitor, evaluate and direct the work of assigned personnel. Effectively ensure the security and integrity of computer systems and networks including the Internet and intranet. Establish and maintain records, both manually and by computer, and prepare accurate reports, correspondence, etc. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Work outside regular hours and ability to be on call on some weeknights and weekends. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and outside agencies. Use analytical skills to thoroughly dissect a problem and present viable solution to management for discussion. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Lifting: Rarely 0-20 pounds.
