This role oversees the administration of the loan portfolio, including collections, payment processing, borrower account management, servicing compliance, portfolio reporting, loan administration and operational performance.The Director ensures servicing operations are executed with accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.This individual will lead and develop the servicing team, implement scalable servicing technologies and processes, and partner with executive leadership to optimize portfolio performance and borrower experience.The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in loan servicing operations, strong leadership capabilities, and experience managing complex loan portfolios in fast-paced or multi-entity environments. Experience with consumer lending or auto finance portfolios is beneficial.Key ResponsibilitiesLoan Servicing Operations• Provide strategic oversight of day-to-day servicing operations for the company’s loan portfolio, including collections, payment processing, account maintenance, escrow administration, payoff processing, and borrower account management.• Ensure accurate posting of payments, interest calculations, fees, and adjustments within the loan servicing platform.• Oversee loan boarding and deboarding processes to ensure system accuracy and data integrity.• Maintain standardized servicing procedures and operational workflows to ensure consistency and efficiency.• Oversee borrower payment channels including ACH, card payments, online portals, and other customer payment methods.• Oversee the administration of loan and title/lien perfection functions.Portfolio Performance & Delinquency Management• Monitor loan portfolio performance including delinquency trends, roll rates, and charge-offs.• Oversee servicing and collections strategies to minimize losses and improve portfolio performance.• Develop policies and procedures related to delinquency management, hardship accommodations, and borrower payment arrangements.• In consumer or auto lending environments, oversee repossession processes, asset recovery, and deficiency balance management as applicable.Financial Reporting & Reconciliation• Oversee reconciliations between loan servicing systems, the general ledger, and associated bank accounts.• Ensure accurate reporting of loan balances, interest income, fees, delinquency metrics, and charge-offs.• Provide regular portfolio performance reporting and analytics to executive leadership.• Support lender, warehouse line, borrowing base, or investor reporting requirements where applicable.Compliance & Risk Management• Ensure loan servicing operations remain compliant with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.• Maintain strong internal controls related to servicing activities, borrower accounts, and payment processing.• Oversee audits, regulatory examinations, and internal reviews related to loan servicing operations.• Partner with compliance and legal teams to implement regulatory updates, policy changes, and risk mitigation strategies.Vendor & Asset Recovery Oversight• Manage relationships with third-party vendors supporting servicing operations, which may include collection agencies, repossession vendors, skip tracing providers, and remarketing partners depending on portfolio type.• Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.• Oversee asset recovery and remarketing processes where applicable.Team Leadership & Management• Lead, mentor, and develop the loan servicing team to ensure high levels of performance, accountability, and operational excellence.• Establish performance metrics, KPIs, and productivity standards for servicing staff.• Provide training and professional development to support team growth and regulatory compliance.• Foster a collaborative, customer-focused and technology-enabled servicing culture.Systems & Process Improvement• Evaluate and improve loan servicing systems, workflows, and automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.• Lead system implementations, upgrades, and integrations related to servicing platforms and financial reporting tools.• Develop reporting dashboards and operational metrics to support data-driven decision making.QualificationsEducation• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.• MBA or advanced degree preferred.Experience• 8+ years of experience in loan servicing, loan operations, or portfolio management.• 4+ years of leadership or management experience.• Experience overseeing servicing operations for consumer, commercial, or specialty finance portfolios.• Experience with loan servicing systems and financial reporting tools.• Experience with consumer lending or auto finance portfolios is a plus.Skills & Competencies• Strong understanding of loan servicing processes, payment structures, and interest calculations.• Knowledge of lending regulations and compliance requirements.• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.• Strong leadership and team development capabilities.• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.• Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial systems.Preferred Experience• Experience in private equity-backed companies or high-growth lending environments.• Experience managing servicing operations across multiple loan portfolios or entities.• Familiarity with servicing systems, data integrations, and automation initiatives.• Experience with consumer lending or auto finance portfolios, including delinquency management and asset recovery processes.
