Legal Assistant
McGreevy Law, LLC is a Kansas City plaintiff's law firm representing people in personal-injury cases and select pro bono matters. The firm is trial-focused: we prepare cases to be tried, and we try cases to juries and judges when needed.This is a full-time Legal Assistant position based in Kansas City, Missouri. The role is hybrid. More in-office time will be needed during training, with additional remote flexibility as confidence and experience grow. Much of the work can be done remotely after training and subsequently demonstrating a proficiency using the firm’s systems.What you’ll doYou will help move client matters forward from intake through resolution. Duties may include:speaking with clients and helping with intake;opening new matters and maintaining case information;requesting, organizing, and tracking medical records, bills, liens, and other documents;preparing and managing legal documents and correspondence;helping with phone, email, calendar, and administrative tasks;supporting lien and settlement-resolution work;assisting with depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials;helping improve firm systems, workflows, and use of technology.Legal experience is helpful but not required. The right person will be trained.What the firm is looking forThe ideal candidate is organized, careful, honest, and interested in helping people through difficult situations. Strong candidates will have:administrative or legal-support experience, or a demonstrated ability to learn quickly;strong attention to detail;good communication skills with clients, attorneys, medical providers, and other professionals;proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel;ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;willingness to learn legal software and tools, including appropriate AI tools;curiosity and a desire to improve systems and contribute to a growing firm;sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism;a genuine desire to help people and do the right thing, even when it is hard;a willingness to communicate honestly about workload, deadlines, and support needs.Compensation and benefitsCompensation will be based on experience, role fit, and agreed schedule. The expected range is $20–$30/hour. The firm is open to alternative structures depending on the candidate’s needs and experience.This position does not currently include health insurance or a traditional fringe-benefit package. The firm hopes to add those benefits in the future, but they are not available now. I want applicants to know that upfront so they can decide whether the position fits their needs.The position offers meaningful client work, direct litigation experience, extensive litigation training, hybrid flexibility, and the opportunity to help shape systems in a growing plaintiff’s trial practice.
