Job Summary

The pharmacy technician is responsible for leading and performing work and development in the areas of intake, sterile compounding, patient and clinic outreach, inventory management, shipping, billing, and other areas key to the success of a home infusion program. Makes recommendations to pharmacist based on protocols and data gathered. Performs tasks across a variety of functional areas and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement.

California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
One year working in a home infusion pharmacy or one year sterile compounding
One year of experience coordinating directly with patients to refill medications or schedule visits or deliveries
Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law
Recent knowledge of pharmacy Dispensing software
Knowledge and capability of sterile compounding including aseptic technique and proper handling
Working knowledge of IV additive preparation and hazardous substance handling.
Must be able to comply with proper aseptic technique as described by USP 797/800 for both hazardous and non-hazardous substances.
Preferred Qualifications
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
One year working in a home infusion pharmacy
Epic EMR, CPR+, or other clinical software experience
Prior experience working in a specialty pharmacy
Prior experience working in a long-term care pharmacy
Experience sterile compounding following USP 797 and state regulations.

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as well as variable shifts dependent on department need. Must participate in on-call duties as needed based on department need. Must be able to work in Rocklin as well as Sacramento. Must be able to comply with proper aseptic technique as described by USP 797/800 for both hazardous and non-hazardous substances. Special protective equipment must be used for required preparation of hazardous substances and spill cleanup. Must dress in a professional manner as outlined by the departmental dress code and have good personal hygiene. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. TB test and blood serum sample required annually per The Joint Commission Standards.
