Required Qualifications
Experience: Proven background operating large hydraulic presses and performing complete setup/changeovers.
Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, die setup sheets, and process sheets; proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometer, caliper, bore gauge, height gauge).
Mechanical Aptitude: Skilled in mechanical adjustments, small die repairs (grinding/sharpening), and safe use of hoisting/rigging equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Press Operation: Safely and efficiently operate large hydraulic presses for forming and blanking operations, meeting cycle times and quality targets.
Die Setup & Changeover: Perform complete die changeovers including removal, installation, alignment, shimming, bolting, and trial runs; document setups for reproducibility.
Tooling Maintenance: Inspect dies, punches, guides, and pilots; perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance; coordinate complex repairs with tooling and maintenance teams.
Quality Assurance: Use precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM data) to inspect parts and maintain tolerances.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve press/tooling faults to minimize downtime and scrap.
Process Optimization: Recommend and implement improvements in press parameters, die modifications, and material handling to boost throughput.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling logs, production counts, scrap reports, and corrective action records.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce lockout/tagout, press guarding, PPE, and other safety protocols; participate in audits and investigations.
Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance, Toolroom, Quality, and Engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and support tooling design changes
