Must have Spanish language fluency.The Community Education Specialist I is an entry-level professional who applies basic concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity. This role works on assignments that are initially routine in nature and require limited judgment and decision-making.Incumbents are expected to build foundational skills and knowledge to perform more advanced work over time through structured training and development.This position will provide entry-level support to public school districts adopting and implementing Multitudes, a state-approved screening tool for early literacy and dyslexia. The role focuses on outreach, customer service, and ensuring smooth onboarding for districts across California.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support Provide basic troubleshooting and technical assistance to school district representatives using the Multitudes platform.Onboarding & Training Support onboarding by guiding districts through registration, setup, and implementation. Distribute program materials such as FAQs, handouts, and training schedules.Communication & Relationship Management Maintain accurate records of communications and follow-ups in a CRM system (e.g., Zendesk Sell). Collaborate with outreach teams to track leads and ensure timely follow-up. The tool supports early identification of Kindergarten and First Grade students who may be at risk for reading difficulties, including dyslexia. Early identification enables early intervention-helping improve literacy outcomes and advancing educational and health equity across California.Multitudes is led by the ALBA Language Neurobiology Lab within the UCSF Department of Neurology's Memory and Aging Center, directed by Dr. Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini. The lab studies how language is organized in the brain across the lifespan and how neurological conditions impact language, memory, and cognition.The UCSF Dyslexia Center and the UCSF|UC Berkeley Schwab Center for Dyslexia and Cognitive Diversity work to improve identification, support, and outcomes for individuals with dyslexia through research, education, and partnerships with schools and communities.Required QualificationsSpanish language fluencyEntry-level experience or demonstrated ability to learn and apply new concepts quicklyBasic customer service or administrative support experienceAbility to follow processes and complete routine tasks with attention to detailPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, public relations, or a related fieldCoursework or continuing education in a related fieldStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple communication threadsStrong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiencesAbility to build and maintain positive working relationshipsExperience with business software and systems (e.g., Smartsheet, Zendesk, Slack, Microsoft Office)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsInterest in learning new technologies and providing basic technical support to educators and school communitiesAbility to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholdersAbout UCSFThe University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
