Responsibilities Patient Care & Technical SupportDeliver high-quality nursing care and technical support to patients across specialty services.Assist with patient admissions, discharges, appointments, treatments, diagnostics, and specialty procedures under clinician direction.Safely handle and restrain canine, feline, and exotic patients for exams and procedures as appropriate.Monitor hospitalized patients, maintain comfort and cleanliness, and communicate changes or concerns promptly to the medical team.Perform laboratory testing, collect samples, prepare medications, fulfill prescriptions, support imaging, and assist with anesthesia based on training and competency.Maintain accurate patient records and ensure treatments and observations are documented appropriately. Specialty Service SupportFloat between specialty departments based on patient volume, staffing needs, and caseload demands.Provide clinical and operational support to specialty teams, assisting technicians, assistants, and doctors as needed.Support patient transport and help coordinate diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.Help maintain efficient patient flow and provide coverage during peak workloads, staff absences, breaks, meetings, and emergencies.Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative approach while supporting multiple specialty services. Hospital OperationsMaintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of treatment areas, exam rooms, procedure rooms, wards, kennels, and shared workspaces in accordance with hospital protocols.Restock supplies, monitor inventory levels, and communicate supply shortages to ensure uninterrupted patient care.Ensure laundry, dishes, patient care equipment, and other shared resources are clean, available, and ready for use.Support hospital housekeeping and waste management practices to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.Monitor the condition of hospital equipment and promptly report maintenance needs or malfunctions. Client ServiceProvide compassionate, professional communication and support to clients throughout their visit.Assist with patient discharges and client education as directed by the medical team.Escort clients and patients as needed.Contribute to a positive client experience by maintaining a welcoming, professional environment. Teamwork & ProfessionalismMaintain a positive, professional attitude while representing PETS and supporting a collaborative work environment.Communicate respectfully and effectively with all team members, fostering teamwork across specialty departments.Support and follow hospital policies, procedures, and chain of command.Accept and provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.Serve as a mentor and resource for team members when appropriate.Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities. Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds independently.Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.Ability to safely handle and restrain animal patients.Ability to work in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital environment.
