Textile Research and Development Manager (New York)

Dynamic apparel company seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Textile Research and Development Manager with 5-8 years of experience in fabric development, textile R&D, or material innovation.Responsibilities:Investigate, develop, and improve fabrics focusing on material, sustainability, and innovation (trend)Research market and latest trends to select appropriate fabrics, aligning with performance needs and design aestheticsSupport the Director in the development and sourcing of fabricsWork closely with Design and Production teams to establish and facilitate fabrics and counter sourcing to completionProduct Lifecycle Management (PLM): Manage initial PLM data entryData & Archive Management: Develop and maintain seasonal tracking charts and organize filing systems for seasonal materialsFabric & Material DevelopmentEnsure materials align with cost targets, quality standards, and production timelinesOversee preproduction testing for all developed fabricsSkills / Qualification:Ability to manage multiple seasons and deadlines simultaneouslyShould be well-versed in the latest trends in fashion and textiles and have a broad knowledge of fabrics.Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, highly organized, self-starter and collaboration skillsUnderstanding of fabric construction, dyeing, finishing processes, and textile technologyProven ability to translate trends into commercially viable product conceptsCandidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environmentGreat benefits.
