Position SummaryAREAS OF STUDY (Non-Credit Courses):Biology/ChemistryMathematics/PhysicsComputer and Information SystemsThe part-time Summer Bridge Instructors are to teach the Summer Bridge classes,plan, prepare, present, and evaluate in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. The Instructor will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Instructor will adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and theDrake State Community and Technical College Personnel Handbook.Salary:Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of TrusteesLocal Salary "L" Schedule - Part-Time, maximum of (19) hours per weekHourly Wage is $32.46 per hourEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructors shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty, Staff, and Student Handbook.Provide competent instruction in the subject areaFacilitate student learning utilizing a variety of learning options to meet individual student needs and differing learning stylesPrepare customized course outlines and develop course content and teaching materials that include nanotechnology to ensure an effective learning experienceIncorporate most current teaching techniques, subject area developments, and technology into the learning experienceProvide for effective evaluation and assessment of the learning experience of the summer bridge participantsMaintain necessary attendance and submit data to the Grant Manager in a timely mannerEvaluate and record summer bridge participant's performance/achievement in a timely manner and provide prompt feedback to participantsDemonstrate effective interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and work ethic (i.e. preparation and punctualityUse technology and other innovative approaches to enhance the teaching/learning processRetain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation effortsPerform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Grant Manager, Division Chair, Dean of Instruction, and/or the PresidentJob description may be modified or altered at any time by management.QualificationsMinimum of a Bachelor's degree in the subject area, education, or related field, from a regionally accredited institutionAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the publicAbility to project a professional and congenial demeanorExcellent oral, auditory, and written communication skillsBasic computer (word processing) skillsExcellent organizational skillsDESIRED PROFILE:Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical collegeSensitivity and commitment to cultural diversityAbility to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a calm and professional mannerAbility to work well under pressure and deadlinesCommitment to teaching and learning, where recent high school graduates, adult students, and non-traditional students are involvedApplication Procedures/Additional InformationApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the NEOED on-line application system to be considered.
