PJM Power Middle Office Analyst

A global energy trading & marketing firm with U.S. offices in Houston (TX) and Stamford (CT) is searching for a Power Middle Office Analyst to support its PJM Full Requirements portfolio. The focus of this position is risk control, middle-office reporting, and valuation analysis.Key responsibilities include:Preparing and analyzing the daily P&L reportsProviding insightful management commentary, including the key drivers, strategies, market dynamics, and risks of the Full-Requirements portfolio performanceUndertaking valuation and market price analysis for Full-Requirements auctionsMaintaining strong controls and reconciling positions, pricing, and settlement positions across ETRM and valuation systemsIdentifying risks related to market dynamics and capacity, and ancillary services components for the portfolioCalculating reserves for risks and exposuresMonitoring load forecasting accuracy and performanceSupporting the cash flow forecast and monthly accounting processesEstablishing strong relationships with the Traders, Originators, Quantitative Research, Risk, and FinanceParticipating in projects to automate and streamline PnL and valuation operational and system processesProfessional and educational requirements include the following:A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related numerate field~5+ years’ experience in risk, trade reporting, valuations, product control, or a middle-office PnL role for a physical power trading & origination deskExperience in one or more of the following power markets, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, NEISO / ISONE, NYISO, PJM, or SPP, is a plus and will be consideredA strong working knowledge of the PJM market and Full-Requirements/Full Requirements physical power transactions is highly desirableAn understanding of power vanilla and exotic options, power financial futures, and the broader physical natural gas marketsAn ability to both analyze and communicate risks related to complex trading transactionsAdvanced Excel skills and familiarity with VBA, SQL, or PythonA strong attention to detail is requiredThis position can be based in Houston (TX) or Stamford (CT).
