Structure MechanicThe Structure Mechanic performs modification as approved by locating, drilling and installation of structure components using close tolerance tools and measurements as depicted in engineering drawings within the aircraft. Performs repairs following approved data to structural components.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesPerform structural modifications and repairs following drawings, process specs, approved/accepted data as assignedRead complex schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings and technical instructionsProvide Structural assistance to other departments as directed by Supervisors and LeadsInspect, overhaul, repair, modify, and troubleshoot airframe structural parts, and componentsFollow all applicable specifications to accomplish a specific taskMaintain a clean and safe working environmentMaintain EWIS protection during all structural removals and installsEstimates material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform jobEnsure work performed adheres to high quality standardsKeeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concernsAssumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and managementExecute all required paperwork as work is completed in connection with assigned normal dutiesComplete assignments in accordance with the instructions for continued airworthinessPerform other work as instructed by the Structures Lead or Supervisor, if qualifiedRequired QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years of experience in sheet metal and aircraft structure maintenance or modificationMust provide own tools as required on company tool listLanguage (read, write, speak, and understand English)Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 correctedPreferred QualificationsFAA Airframe and Powerplant certificateFAA Airframe certificate 5+ years working experienceAdditional related education and/or trainingSuccess Factors/Job CompetenciesPossesses analytical skills: must be able to gather information and use data to determine cause and effect for complex problem solvingWorks well as part of a team with minimal supervisionWell organized and attentive to detailWillingness to assist othersPerform work within estimated hoursAbility to closely follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to adhere to high quality standardsMust be able to read, write and speak Standard English, including technical sheet metal related vocabulary, for routine and technical business correspondence and for producing work productsMust be able to adhere to all established safety policies, processes and proceduresWork EnvironmentThis job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
