Project Manager - Aerospace Construction Projects
About JP Donovan
JP Donovan Construction LLC is a vertically integrated general contractor operating in partnership with JP Donovan Fabrication LLC and JP Donovan Precision Machine LLC. This structure gives us something few contractors on the Space Coast can offer: the ability to self-perform critical scopes of work including structural fabrication and erection, heavy civil, piping and tubing, and precision-machined components. We build the facilities, launch infrastructure, and industrial structures that support America's aerospace industry, and we do it with our own people, our own shops, and direct control over quality and schedule.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead fast-paced, highly complex aerospace construction projects in the Cape Canaveral area. Your assignment will flex with the work: at times you will own a single large project constructing launch infrastructure, processing facilities, and other mission-critical aerospace structures valued between $5M and $30M, and at other times you will run a portfolio of smaller concurrent projects for government agencies and commercial aerospace clients alike.
This is a full-ownership role. From estimating support through final closeout, you own the budget, the margin, the schedule, and the client relationship. You will lead the project team, including a dedicated Superintendent who serves as your field counterpart, and coordinate JP Donovan's self-perform capabilities to deliver work that few contractors can match, in an environment where precision, planning, and accountability are non-negotiable.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership
Serve as the single point of accountability for assigned projects, from preconstruction support through commissioning and closeout
Lead the project team, including the Superintendent, project engineers, and administrative staff; set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for results
Serve as the primary client contact for owners, government agencies, and commercial aerospace clients, building relationships that lead to growth
Set the tone for the project: professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-through
Commercial & Financial Management
Own the project budget and margin from buyout through final accounting; forecast costs accurately and report project financial health to the COO
Support estimating during preconstruction, including scope development, subcontractor solicitation, and constructability input
Negotiate, prepare, and administer subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders
Identify, price, and negotiate change orders promptly; protect the company's commercial position while maintaining strong client relationships
Manage monthly billings, schedules of values, and cash flow; ensure timely payment cycles up and down the contract chain
Schedule & Coordination
Develop, maintain, and drive the master project schedule; identify constraints early and resolve them before they impact critical path
Coordinate self-perform fabrication and machining scopes with JP Donovan Fabrication and JP Donovan Precision Machine to align shop production and deliveries with field installation sequences
Manage procurement and submittal schedules for long-lead materials and equipment in a supply-constrained aerospace market
Balance priorities and resources across multiple concurrent projects when managing a portfolio assignment
Contract Administration & Risk
Administer prime contracts with government and commercial aerospace clients, including compliance with agency-specific requirements at KSC and CCSFS
Manage submittals, RFIs, and document control with the discipline that fast-paced, highly complex aerospace work demands
Identify and mitigate project risks including commercial, schedule, and technical before they become problems
Support the Superintendent in enforcing JP Donovan's safety program and all OSHA, NASA, Space Force, and client-specific safety requirements
Quality & Closeout
Ensure work meets contract documents, aerospace quality standards, and client expectations
Drive punch list completion, commissioning support, turnover documentation, and financial closeout to a prompt, clean finish

10+ years of progressive construction experience, including prior project management with a general contractor
Proven track record managing commercial or industrial construction projects with full budget and schedule ownership
Strong command of construction contracts, change management, cost forecasting, and project financial reporting
