Job DescriptionConway Medical Center (CMC) is seeking a dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Laborist to join our growing obstetric team. This 100% inpatient role focuses exclusively on labor and delivery care with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. CNMs in this program work collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians to provide safe, compassionate, evidence?based care to a diverse patient population.This position is ideal for a CNM who thrives in the fast?paced L&D environment, values teamwork, and enjoys practicing in a supportive hospital culture with strong physician collaboration.As a CNM Laborist at CMC, you will:Provide full inpatient obstetric care, including triage, labor management, vaginal deliveries, and postpartum careParticipate in obstetric emergencies in collaboration with OB/GYNsAssist with C?sections as first assist when neededSupport a family?centered birthing environment while ensuring patient safetyWork closely with a multidisciplinary care team to maintain high standards of clinical excellenceSCHEDULE:Rotating 12- or 24-hour shifts with night, weekend, and holiday coverage.24/7 coverage shared among CNMs and OB/GYN physicians to ensure continuous care.No outpatient clinic responsibilities.SUPPORT & RESOURCES:You'll work within a cohesive, physician?supported environment that values collaboration and professional autonomy.Collaborative practice model with OB/GYN physicians, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians.8 OBGYN physicians, 2 CNM, 1 APPDedicated labor and delivery nurses, anesthesia team, and surgical support for C-sections.Cerner EMRIntegrated Dragon dictationOn?unit ultrasound and fetal monitoringDedicated C?section operating rooms staffed for rapid responseLABOR & DELIVERY ENVIRONMENT:You'll work within a cohesive, physician?supported environment that values collaboration and professional autonomy.CMC manages high risk pregnancies 32 weeks and beyondLevel II nursery on site with in-house pediatric supportL&D, postpartum, nursery, and C-section operating rooms are all located on the same floorL&D is located across the hall from postpartum careHigh risk transfers requiring advanced neonatal support are transferred to McLeod Level III NICU (1-2 hours by ground) or MUSC Level IV NICU (45 minutes by helicopter) using established protocolsPATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS & VOLUME:Care for a diverse population, including Spanish-speaking patients, adolescents, and adults.Typical census: 8-12 deliveries per dayApproximately 2,000 annual deliveries Increasing demand driven by population growth in Horry County and surrounding areasREQUIREMENTS:Board?certified Certified Nurse MidwifeActive South Carolina CNM license (or eligibility)Experience in labor and delivery settingsSkilled in managing spontaneous vaginal births and L&D triageExperience assisting in C?sections preferredBLS, ACLS, and NRP requiredBENEFITS:$7,500k+ sign-on bonusCompetitive Compensation (typically MGMA median)Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, & vision; supplemental insurance options (short/long-term disability, accidental, cancer, life); retirement plans with employer match.Student Loan Repayment: Eligible for loan repayment assistance through the PSLF program, helping to manage and reduce student debt.CME Allowances: 5 days off a year / $2k a year + cover costs of licenses, dues, etc.Malpractice Insurance: Coverage provided by CMC.Work-Life Balance: Flexible scheduling and ample paid time off to ensure a healthy work-life balance (24 Days PTO).LIFE IN COASTAL SOUTH CAROLINA:Enjoy a relaxed, coastal lifestyle with world-class golf, boating, dining, and family-friendly communities.
