Job DescriptionPay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year\nJob description:\nPosition Summary\nBMF's Production Manager is responsible for leading all trade operations and supervising trade managers, foremen, shop fabrication teams, and craft personnel. This role ensures daily execution aligns with schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards.\nReporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager drives performance, enforces compliance, and ensures work packages are production-ready.\nKey Responsibilities\nProduction & Execution\n\nDirect trade leads, foremen, shop fabrication teams, and craft personnel\nManage daily production goals, manpower allocation, and work sequencing\nKeep work on schedule and aligned with project milestones\nTrack labor hours versus budget by work item or trade\nDrive daily production metrics and performance reporting\nCommunicate delays, manpower needs, and production risks to leadership\nProvides Production's input into integrated schedules\n\nLeadership & Accountability\n\nCoach and develop trade managers and front-line supervisors\nProvide craft-level coaching, feedback, and motivation\nHold trade leadership accountable for schedule, safety, and quality\nEscalate personnel matters appropriately\nDrive a culture of compliance, ownership, and execution\nIdentify risks & opportunities as well as mitigation plans\nDocument and implement lessons learned into production plans to increase efficiency\n\nSafety, Quality & Compliance\n\nEnforce WAFs, LOTO, confined space, and hot work requirements\nPartner with QA to foster a first-time SAT inspections culture\nPartner with Safety to prevent accidents and incidents\nEnsure materials, inspections, and prerequisites are ready ahead of scheduled work\nInterface with Planning and Engineering to confirm job readiness\n\nQualifications\n\n7+ years of leadership experience in ship repair, marine construction, or heavy industrial production\nExperience managing multiple trades and front-line supervisors\nWorking knowledge of the JFMM, NAVSEA Standard Items, and other applicable Navy Standards\nExperienced with DDGs, LHAs, LHD, LPDs, and Carriers\nStrong knowledge of labor tracking, scheduling, and cost control\nWorking knowledge of shipyard safety requirements\nProven ability to drive production results in high-accountability environments\nStrong leadership presence and communication skills\nWorking knowledge of scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, P6, etc.) preferred.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain access to all area shipyards and bases.\n\nShipyard Access Requirements\n\nMust be able to obtain and maintain access to all area shipyards\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a valid DBIDS badge\nMust meet all base access requirements, including background screening as required by installation policies\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nMust be able to access vessels, dry docks, piers, and industrial work sites\nAbility to climb ladders, navigate steep stairs, and access confined spaces\nAbility to walk and stand for extended periods\nMust be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirator (as required), and fall protection equipment\nAbility to lift up to 40 pounds as needed\nMust be able to work in varying weather and shipyard conditions\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nA decisive, hands-on production leader\nStrong cost awareness and schedule discipline\nA coach who develops strong trade leadership beneath them\nSomeone who understands that safety, quality, and schedule are equally critical\n\nEqual Employment Opportunity Statement:\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
