Prekindergarten Teaching Assistant

Norfolk Collegiate School seeks a nurturing, energetic, and dependable Prekindergarten Teaching Assistant to support the school's early childhood program. This position works closely with the lead teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for young learners. The teaching assistant helps facilitate daily classroom activities, supports students' social and emotional development, and assists with classroom management and routines.The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, and be committed to fostering a warm, supportive, and engaging learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Support the lead teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and lessonsAssist with supervising and engaging students during classroom instruction, play, and transitionsHelp prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and instructional resourcesPromote positive behavior and support students' social and emotional developmentAssist with classroom organization, cleanliness, and safetyHelp supervise students during recess, lunch, and other school activitiesCollaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a consistent and supportive classroom environmentProvide additional support to individual students as neededQualifications:Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferredExperience working with young children in a classroom or childcare settingUnderstanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning practicesStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively as part of a teaching teamPatient, flexible, and enthusiastic about supporting young learnersInterested candidates should upload a cover letter, resume, three professional references, an unofficial copy of transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate degrees, and, if applicable, teacher certifications.Norfolk Collegiate is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds.
