Against a challenging international climate for fundraising, Fauna & Flora continues to be successful in high value fundraising, and as a result, isseekingto invest further in our U.S. operations, including developing our Board, systems,visibilityand team.We are seeking an exceptional and experienced senior fundraiser who will be pivotal in helping usdevelopand implement our ambitions for global conservation, driving significant revenue growth from foundations by cultivating strong, trust-based relationships with current and prospective donors, and prioritizing engagement with public, private, and corporate foundations throughout the U.S.The Fauna & Flora Fundraising TeamThe Senior Foundations Officer will report to the Global Director of Fundraising, who oversees a team of around30 individuals across Supporter Marketing, Philanthropy, Foundations, PrivateSectorand Institutional Fundraising. The Senior Foundations Officer will work with the Philanthropy and Foundation teams in the U.K. and U.S., as well as the wider fundraising team, and develop relationships across the organization. This is a new role. The U.S. team currently consists of a Major Gifts Officer (focusing on major gifts from individuals, familyfoundationsand corporates), a Senior Foundations Advisor (focusing on restricted grants from U.S. foundations), and a Development and Operations Associate. In addition, our U.K.based Supporter Marketing team is actively looking to develop our U.S. supporter base, working closely with the U.S. team.The U.S. team is supported by the global organization in terms of specialist functions including finance, IT, programmatic information andexpertise, HR, communications, etc.The Ideal CandidateYou will bring a strongtrack recordof securing six- and seven-figure multi-year grants from professional and family foundations in the U.S.and be a confident and creative relationship manager. You will have a passion for supporting nature and people and be able to inspire and conveythat passion convincingly to donorsthrough personal outreach and engagingwritten communications.You will deliver best-practice portfolio management,reportingand evaluation, anddemonstratestrategic initiative and sound judgment, able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a growing team. You will be skilled at building internal relationships across geographies and cultures and have proven ability to translate complex and technical information into compelling proposals and donor communications.PurposeTo build and steward high-value foundation relationships in the U.S.securing significant restricted and unrestricted funding to advance Fauna & Flora's global conservation priorities.Core ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a portfolio ofstrategicfoundation donors and prospects(six figure +)Develop excellent working relationships with funders, including an in-depth understanding of donor perspectives, approaches and giving patterns toidentifyand engage in areas ofsynergywith Fauna & Flora's work.Manage funder relationships acrossFauna & Flora,including withsenior staff and Board Members to ensure seamless and appropriate communications.Provide strategic and practical support toFauna & Flora'sSenior Leadership Team, Board, and other staff in their engagement with funders.Deliver best practice account managementWork with the Fauna & Flora Research & Insight team to ensure up-to-date intelligence and due diligence for prospect and donor accounts.Ensure clear engagement plans,objectives,strategiesand actions for accounts are in place and implemented, working closely with the wider Philanthropy and Foundations teams.Ensure theeffectivemanagementof accounts, including compliance withlegislation,policiesand procedures for bothFauna & Flora and donors.Ensure Fauna & Flora's CRM database (Salesforce) is kept up to date andaccurate.Monitor and evaluate activities against fundraising plans and budgets on a continual basis, providing regular updates toLeadership, anduseKPIs,data and evaluationto inform learning and future practice.Inspire,connectand engage donors and prospects through creative communicationsEffectively articulate the work of Fauna & Flora, presenting a compelling case for support for the organization in a range of communication formats and channels both oral and written.Work with program and engagement teams to produce compelling communicationsabout our workincluding proposals, presentations,informal updatesandrequiredreports.When required,work with theCommunications team on the development of communications strategies and materials,including socialmediacontent.Work with the Engagement team to develop a program of meetings, events, attendance and networking opportunities at professional conservation policy and practice conferences (such as United Nations conferences) and project trips. Represent Fauna & Flora asappropriate atthese.Contributetothe development of Fauna & Flora's Fundraising StrategyContribute insight and learning from donor relationships and trends to inform Fauna & Flora's U.S. and Global Fundraising strategy, including contributing to the identification and development of new and emerging opportunities and prospects.Contribute to and help to implement plans and budgets to meet restricted and unrestricted fundraising targets.Foster and promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization and Board.Other dutiesIn consultation with the Global Director of Fundraising, engage and manage external resources (e.g.consultants, service providers) to supportthe delivery of strategy,in accordance withbudget and Fauna & Flora's Global Delegation of Authority.With the agreement of your manager, perform any other tasks that may be requested from time to time,commensuratewith skills,experienceand role.Credentials and Personal QualitiesThe following areessential:Demonstrable, multi-yeartrack recordin securing six and seven figure grants from U.S. foundations;Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with proven experience developing,buildingandmaintainingstrong relationships with funders (including program officers,directorsand grant managers;Track recordof working with Boards and Senior Leadership Teams, providing guidance and advice;In-depth knowledge of the U.S. foundation landscape(professional and family);Excellent grant management and numeracy skills with experience of reviewing complexbudgets and analyzing data with meticulous attention to detail;Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to be a compelling and persuasive storyteller, including being able to translate complex and technical information into compelling information for donor audiences and technical applications;Self-starter with 'can-do' mindset and ability to work independently and apply sound judgement; and be an innovative and resourceful thinker;Superior organizational and cross-functional project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, lead project meetings, ensure accountability among team members, and adapt to evolving departmental needs.The following aredesirable:Proven experience with an international nonprofit organization;Experience working on 'Big Bet' or other large-scale transformative, funding initiatives;Proven experience of the nature conservation sector.Fauna & Flora ValuesValues underpin who we are and how we act. Weare able toconsider applicants who would prefer a reduced working pattern (minimum 30hrsper week) withpro-rated salary.We offer a comprehensive and competitive set of benefits.
