Embedded Software Engineer
OverviewWe are seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Operations & Triage Specialist to support daily autonomous vehicle testing and validation activities. In this role, you will work directly with vehicle operations teams, helping to identify, document, and troubleshoot issues encountered during real-world testing.This position requires a hands-on presence in test vehicles, collaborating closely with drivers and Field Operations Specialists (FOS) to capture critical context surrounding vehicle behavior, software performance, and autonomous system disengagements. The information you collect will be instrumental in helping engineering teams quickly diagnose and resolve issues.The ideal candidate has a passion for autonomous vehicle technology, strong analytical skills, and a "detective mindset" when investigating complex technical problems.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport autonomous vehicle testing operations running throughout the day and evening.Ride in test vehicles and observe vehicle performance during public road tests and mission execution.Capture detailed operational context surrounding autonomous system behavior, disengagements, and anomalies.Investigate and triage issues related to autonomous driving systems operating in robotic mode.Assist with vehicle startup, deployment, and software initialization troubleshooting.Identify, document, and communicate issues impacting vehicle readiness and mission execution.Create detailed Jira tickets including issue descriptions, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence.Utilize vehicle data, logs, and analysis tools to help engineering teams reproduce and resolve problems.Coordinate with distributed engineering and operations teams to ensure critical information is communicated efficiently.Help minimize vehicle downtime and maximize testing productivity through rapid issue identification and resolution.Required QualificationsExperience with Autonomous Driving (AD) or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).Working knowledge of:CamerasLiDARRadarUltrasonic sensorsROS (Robot Operating System)Experience reviewing system logs and performing technical analysis.Ability to create detailed and actionable Jira tickets.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to document findings clearly.Comfortable working in a dynamic testing environment with shifting priorities.Preferred QualificationsExperience using autonomous vehicle analysis and visualization tools such as Foxglove.Familiarity with vehicle data collection and log analysis workflows.Experience supporting software deployment, debugging, or system validation activities.Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive testing, or related fields.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.Workplace TypeThis is a fully remote position.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
