Program Engagement Coordinator-Math Motivators Program (*_REMOTE ORGANIZATION – MUST RESIDE IN HARTFORD, CT_*) JOB SUMMARY The Program Engagement Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Math Motivators, participating schools, community partners, and program volunteers in Hartford, Connecticut. This role ensures that tutoring programs operate smoothly by coordinating schedules, supporting volunteers, maintaining relationships with partner schools, and tracking program participation and outcomes. This position reports to and works under the day-to-day direction of the Community Outreach Specialist, with oversight from the Director of Programs. The Program Engagement Coordinator also collaborates with other program staff and volunteers to manage logistics, support tutors, and assist the Community Outreach Specialist with strengthening community partnerships that expand access to math tutoring for students in grades 5-12. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the Community Outreach Specialist, with oversight from the Director of Programs, the Program Engagement Coordinator will: Existing School and Community Partnerships Serve as the primary contact for current participating schools and community organizations in Hartford. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and program partners to determine tutoring needs, including: number of students served, tutor needs, & session days and times Maintain regular communication with teachers and site coordinators regarding student progress, scheduling updates, and program needs. Ensure partner schools and organizations provide a safe and welcoming environment for volunteers. Coordinate volunteer onboarding requirements according to school or organization policies (background checks, visitor forms, etc.). Collect feedback from teachers, students, and tutors to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Support or facilitate standardized testing preparation sessions when applicable. Note: The Community Outreach Specialist leads new partner development and external growth relationships. The Program Engagement Coordinator supports implementation, relationship maintenance, and expansion of opportunities within existing partner sites. Volunteer Engagement and Support Onboard and support tutors participating in the program. Train tutors on effective tutoring practices and program expectations. Mentor volunteers and model effective tutoring strategies when needed. Maintain clear communication with volunteers regarding schedules, school calendars, and program updates (e.g., holidays, snow days, schedule changes). Foster a positive and engaging volunteer experience to promote retention and program success. Program Coordination and Administration Create tutoring schedules and coordinate tutor assignments for partner schools and organizations. Track tutor and student attendance for all tutoring sessions. Maintain accurate program records and complete required reporting in Virtuous Volunteer and other program systems. Distribute tutoring schedules to tutors, teachers, administrators, and partner organizations. Monitor school and organizational calendars and communicate schedule changes to volunteers. Become familiar with regional standardized testing requirements and collaborate with the Program Implementation Lead to adapt tutoring content or prep curriculum as needed. Submit weekly program updates and participate in regular check-in meetings with the Community Outreach Specialist and other program leadership, as requested. Program Growth Identify opportunities for program expansion within participating schools. Support efforts to recruit volunteers and develop new partnerships that strengthen program impact. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered) Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2-4 years of relevant experience in volunteer management, program coordination, education programs, community engagement, or partnership development. Experience in education, tutoring, or mathematics-related programs is strongly preferred. Project management or program coordination experience is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Math tutoring or math education experience Experience working with volunteers or community partners Excellent written and verbal communication Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple schedules, partners, and program logistics Problem-solving skills and sound judgment Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a team environment Commitment to supporting student learning and educational equity WORK ENVIRONMENT, SCHEDULE & TRAVEL TAF is a remote organization; however, this is a Hartford-based position. The selected candidate must reside in Hartford or the immediate Greater Hartford area and be available for regular in-person work at partner schools, community sites, and local events Local travel is required for tutoring sessions, school and community partner meetings, volunteer activities, and other program events EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB (may be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those commonly associated with this position) TAF-issued laptop with required software Reliable internet access Access to organizational platforms and training Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout Hartford and the immediate Greater Hartford area Project management and communication platforms (e.g., Monday, Teams, SharePoint) COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE Hourly Rate: $30.00 per hour Schedule: Part-time, up to 29 hours per week, based on program needs Typical schedule: Monday–Thursday (occasional Friday or Saturday programming) Work Location: Remote work combined with required local travel and regular in-person responsibilities throughout Hartford and the immediate Greater Hartford area This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
