SMSI is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.SummarySMSI has multiple Project Management opportunities supporting our client in Aiken, SC.ResponsibilitiesThese positions are accountable for performing all project management responsibilities on multi-million-dollar projects including engineering, procurement, construction and operations and maintenance; or assigned responsibility for execution of a substantial area of a mega project.Provide guidance for the support of projects and program initiatives for technical and procedural requirements.Manage project scope, schedule, cost while adhering to quality, safety and environmental objectives.Establish and control technical, schedule and cost baselines and provide effective management of project staff and matrixed personnel to control baselines.Required SkillsDemonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility.Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.Broad experience in engineering, environmental, operations, maintenance, construction, planning and strategy.Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.U.S. Citizenship Educational RequirementsAccredited four (4) year degree in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a master’s degree with sixteen (16) years of work-related experience.Preferred QualificationsSuccessful performance as project manager on a minimum of two (2) medium sized project, or multiple project assignments in a significant role on large sized projects.Good knowledge and experience of project design, engineering, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, start up, turn over work processes, sequencing, and interfaces.Project Controls and Finance including understanding of: - Scheduling (including work force loading) - Progress measurement - Risk assessment and management - Code of accounts - Work breakdown structure - Change management - Cost control - Estimating - Project Status Review (PSR).Appreciation of key elements of contract law and when to engage legal.Understanding of project funding.Proactive - goal orientated with the initiative to influence events positively, lead project team, and influence client for decision making.Ability to resolve complex problems and to be comfortable in complex project or business environments.Ability to set and maintain high standards of self-performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks.Demonstration of innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment.Ability to influence a group of diverse individuals, each with their own goals, needs, and perspectives, to work together effectively for the good of a project.Certification in project management suggested, for example, Project Management Professional (PMP).Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
