Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing and participating in full-cycle A/P, A/R, posting/reviewing GL, monthly credit card statements, and general accounting duties. They will assist with cash management, grant reporting, and produce financial statements as needed.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Work ObjectivesManage all general ledger and subsidiary journals, including cash and credit card receipts, cash disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue releases, payroll accounts, cash flow forecasting, grants administration and reportingReconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable on a monthly basisProcess cash disbursements on a weekly basisManage the purchase order process for the organizationProcess general ledger transactions and post entriesReconcile all credit card purchases to monthly statementsPerform all cash account reconciliations for all relevant bank accountsManage all annual reporting requirementsAssist in grant reporting and other projects as neededAssist in the annual financial and any other audits as neededEnsure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)OperationsInput payroll information for payroll vendor on a bi-weekly basis as neededMake cash deposits as neededManage all vendor relationships and resolution of billing issuesManage the purchase order process for the organizationPerform twice weekly back-ups for the QuickBooks systemProcess 1099 forms and other forms relevant to the organizationGrant AdministrationReview and report submissions to all funding partners as requiredWork closely with the CFO on budgets, projections and other grant related procedures KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Familiarity with fund accounting and grants management is a bonusBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldProficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and advance Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with Salesforce and Procore software is a plusStrong understanding of GAAP principles and knowledge of nonprofit compliance standardsExcellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
