Applied ML Scientist (Remote)Contract to HireOur client is seeking a fully remote Applied ML Scientist to support machine learning solutions at scale across a large national retail organization with 20,000+ locations. This role is focused on building production machine learning models that drive critical business decisions. You'll partner with ML Product Managers and ML Engineers to develop, evaluate, and deploy models that deliver measurable business value.What You'll DoBuild, train, and evaluate machine learning modelsPerform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and dataset preparationDevelop production-ready ML solutionsPartner with engineering teams to support deployment and monitoringDocument model performance, assumptions, and limitationsResearch and apply new ML techniques to real-world business problemsWhat We're Looking For2+ years of applied machine learning or data science experienceStrong Python skills (scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, PyTorch, TensorFlow)Experience with feature engineering, model evaluation, and experimentationStrong SQL, pandas, and NumPy skillsExperience deploying or supporting production ML modelsFamiliarity with AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or GCP Vertex AIExperience in retail, e-commerce, supply chain, forecasting, or consumer analytics is a plusIdeal BackgroundBuilt predictive models that influenced business decisionsWorked with forecasting, optimization, recommendation systems, pricing, customer behavior, or operational analyticsTaken models from development through production deploymentMeasured business impact through experimentation and model performance metrics
