Our shop handles large-scale structural steel assemblies, including bridge girders, trusses, and custom fabricated components.This is not a small-parts warehouse environment. Our work involves moving, staging, and positioning massive steel components that require planning, precision, and strict adherence to safety procedures.Position SummaryBridge Brothers is seeking a Heavy Steel Material Handler / Rigging Operator to safely move, stage, and position large structural steel and bridge components throughout our fabrication facility.This role is designed for candidates with experience handling oversized, heavy, or multi-ton steel assemblies using overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working around large moving loads in an industrial environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely move, stage, and position large structural steel and bridge assemblies throughout the shop and yard Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and related lifting equipment Rig loads using chokers, slings, spreader bars, shackles, and other rigging devices Read and understand load weights, lift points, and basic rigging plans Coordinate movements with welders, fabricators, painters, and supervisors Maintain safe distances and clear communication during lifts and moves Inspect rigging and lifting equipment prior to use Support production flow by delivering large components to and from workstations Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred 2+ years of experience handling large, heavy, or oversized materials in a fabrication, steel, shipyard, or heavy industrial environment Experience operating overhead cranes required Forklift experience required Familiarity with rigging hardware and safe lifting practices Comfortable working around multi-ton steel assemblies Ability to follow lift instructions, shop drawings, and safety procedures Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety Team-oriented mindset and clear communication skills Formal rigging or crane certifications are a plus but not requiredPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentHeavy industrial fabrication environment Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting Exposure to large moving loads, noise, dust, and heavy equipment PPE required and provided Role DetailsSchedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. EST (some weekends as needed) Overtime: Available as required Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt Benefits: Eligible after 90 days (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and paid holidays) Apply TodayIf you have experience moving large structural steel or heavy industrial materials and want to work on bridge projects you can point to for decades, we want to hear from you.
