Position description The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructor assistants to teach on-site and online courses for our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program for upcoming openings. We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses.Emergency patient careBasic human anatomy and physiology needed to perform a patient assessmentRecognition of a patient in cardiac arrestCPR/AED For Healthcare Providers & Professional RescuersIdentifying and managing OB-GYN emergenciesTriage and transportation of patients in major disastersOther Related TopicInstructor duties include but are not limited to:Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments.Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.Stay current within the subject, discipline or field of practice.Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline/explain the grading policies for the course.Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.Employ teaching methodologies that support the academic success of students with a variety of backgrounds, experiences and learning stylesCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.The posting will remain open until March 31, 2026 to accommodate department needs.
