Senior Network Engineer
Overview Job Title: Senior Network Engineer (Routing & Switching) | Location: Charlotte, NC - Hybrid | Duration: Contract 18+ Months | Rate: $65-$70/hour W2We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching, primarily within Cisco-based environments. This individual will focus heavily on configuration, troubleshooting, and operational stability of enterprise network infrastructure. The role also requires strong communication skills, as the engineer will interact directly with stakeholders and serve as a technical point of contact for the Innovation Lab.Key Responsibilities Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching infrastructure.Design and implement Layer 2 and Layer 3 network solutions using Cisco technologies.Perform advanced troubleshooting of routing, switching, and connectivity issues across enterprise environments.Manage network upgrades, changes, and maintenance activities while minimizing downtime and operational risk.Analyze outages or service disruptions and implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence.Serve as the Innovation Lab point of contact, participating in technical discussions and solution evaluations.Communicate with internal teams and customers to explain network issues, solutions, and architecture decisions.Document network configurations, troubleshooting processes, and operational procedures.Required Skills Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms.Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts (VLANs, STP, routing protocols, etc.).Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routers and switches.Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.Ability to clearly explain root causes of outages and preventative improvements.Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers and technical teams.Preferred Qualifications CCNA or CCNP certification.Experience working in enterprise or lab environments supporting network testing and innovation initiatives.Experience supporting network change management and outage prevention strategies.About Matlen Silver Experience Matters.
