Medical Assistant Responsibilities Demonstrates ability to take and records blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, and weight. Demonstrates ability to annotate patient chart with vital signs, pertinent history, and level of pain. Alerts provider of any acute issues stated by patient. Demonstrates ability to obtain routine specimen for laboratory analysis and perform standard tests. Ensures proper identification of specimens and delivers them to laboratory, always ensuring proper PPE requirements are met. Demonstrates ability to assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments. Acts as chaperon when needed or requested by provider. Demonstrates ability to apply/remove bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot and cold packs. Demonstrates ability to perform electro cardiographs and notifies Physician of results. Demonstrates ability to assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments. Demonstrates ability to assists patients with proper use of oxygen equipment, ensuring proper fit for mask or canula. Demonstrates ability to accompany patients in wheelchairs, on litters or ambulatory within hospital as required. Preferred: i. Demonstrates ability in fluency of written and verbal communication.ii. Demonstrates ability to work independently, use sound judgement, and attention to detail.iii. Demonstrates ability to ability to organize workload and use effective time management.iv. Demonstrates ability to ability to work effectively in a team environment.
