Job SummaryThe Structured Cabling Technician II installs, terminates, and maintains copper and fiber structured cabling systems in data center and large-scale commercial environments. This role supports the installation of cable pathways, racks, cabinets, and network infrastructure while ensuring all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. The technician works closely with project leads and team members to complete installations on schedule while maintaining organized cable management and documentation. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers ongoing training and advancement within the telecom and low-voltage industry.Job ResponsibilitiesInstall, route, and secure copper and fiber cabling in data center and commercial environmentsTerminate copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber connections including LC and SCPull, route, label, and dress cables while maintaining proper bend radius and pathway supportInstall cable pathways including ladder racks, basket trays, cable trays, J-hooks, and D-ringsBuild and organize racks, cabinets, and structured cabling infrastructureInstall and support patch panels, network equipment, and wireless access pointsPerform cable management including bundling, dressing, and labelingLabel, test, and certify cabling using industry-standard testing equipmentRead and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable routing diagramsMaintain clean and organized work areas in high-security data center environmentsCommunicate project progress, issues, and material needs to supervisors or project leadsDocument completed work, cable counts, and installation progressAssist team leads with project execution and support less experienced installers when neededJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 2 years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, or telecommunications infrastructureExperience installing and terminating both fiber and copper cabling systemsAbility to terminate LC or SC fiber connections and RJ45 copper terminationsExperience installing racks, cabinets, cable trays, ladder racks, and cable pathwaysFamiliarity with TIA/EIA structured cabling standardsAbility to perform cable testing using certification or diagnostic toolsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagramsStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipAbility to follow safety procedures and site security protocolsEducationHigh school diploma or GED requiredWork ExperienceAt least 2 years of experience working in structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage installationsExperience working in data centers or large commercial construction environments preferredBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k)Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)Schedule is Monday through Friday with a typical start time of 6:00 AM or 7:00 AMWork is performed in data center or large commercial construction environmentsTravel between project sites and occasional overtime may be required depending on project needsWork boots and basic hand tools are required for the roleTechnicians must follow all site safety and security protocols while maintaining organized work areas
