Industrial Construction Manager
Position OverviewInternational is looking to add an Industrial Construction Manager to their team in San Antonio!The Industrial Construction Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design coordination, budgeting, and execution of capital construction and facility projects across North America.This role manages projects from early feasibility through commissioning and turnover, ensuring alignment with company standards, safety requirements, insurer criteria, and operational objectives.The Industrial Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, design partners, contractors, and regulatory authorities to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.ResponsibilitiesStakeholder Coordination & CommunicationCoordinate with Operations, Manufacturing, IT, EHS, and Facilities teamsLead building space planning, layout coordination, and facility expansionsPresent project updates, risks, and financial status to senior leadershipObtains business partner's approval of designs, as well as any change orders that may occurPrepare internal and external reports on project performanceProject Planning & Pre-ConstructionWorks with the business units for their construction needsWorks with authorities having jurisdiction to procure all necessary licenses and construction permitsLead feasibility studies, site assessments, and constructability reviews for facility projectsPartner with Architecture & Engineering teams during design developmentDevelop and define detailed Scopes of Work (SOW) aligned with business requirements and ensuring all company, safety, regulatory, and insurer standards are metFacilitate value engineering initiatives to optimize cost and performanceSupport procurement strategy and contractor prequalificationManages bid process for all construction projects in conjunction with ProcurementBudgeting & Financial ManagementDevelop project budgets and capital authorization packages (CAPEX)Prepare cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and soft costsTrack project expenditures and provide cost-to-complete forecastingManage contingencies and identify cost risk mitigation strategiesReview, approve, and process contractor invoices for paymentScheduling & Project ControlsDevelop and maintain detailed master project schedulesMonitor critical path activities and milestone deliverablesImplement recovery plans to address schedule delaysUtilize scheduling and project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore)Construction ExecutionOversee all onsite and offsite construction activitiesCoordinate and direct general contractors, subcontractors, and tradesMonitor daily work progress and ensure adherence to plans and specificationsSelect and manage tools, materials, and equipment procurement as neededEnsure contractual conditions of performance are metRegulatory ComplianceEnforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all projectsEnsure compliance with OSHA, local codes, and corporate safety policiesAlign projects with insurer requirements (e.g., FM Global or equivalent)Conduct site safety reviews and support incident prevention initiativesContract & Commercial ManagementSupport contract negotiation and administration for construction servicesManage change orders, claims avoidance, and dispute resolutionEvaluate contractor performance against contractual obligationsPermitting & Approvals* Obtain and manage all required permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals* Coordinate inspections and jurisdictional authority reviewsCommissioning & Project CloseoutOversee system commissioning and facility start-up activitiesManage punch list completion and final quality inspectionsEnsure delivery of as-built drawings and O&M manualsCoordinate project turnover to operations and warranty managementRisk Management & Quality AssuranceIdentify, analyze, and mitigate project risksEnsure quality construction standards and proper building techniquesImplement corrective actions when deviations occurMinimum Requirements* Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of industrial construction or project management experienceOR* Master's degree and at least 4 years of industrial construction or project management experienceOR* At least 8 years of industrial construction or project management experienceAdditional Requirements* Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
