Assists in the preparation of foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods, and desserts; prepares food to include beverages, salads, dressings, sandwiches, and cold plates; prepares portioned and fast foods on grill, in broiler, or in deep-fat fryer as appropriate2. Operates food production equipment to include slicers, choppers, dicers, mixers, vertical cutters, patty-making machines, and other vegetable, bakery, and meat processing equipment3. Transports food or supplies to serving areas; ensures that areas are properly set up; assembles and replenishes food, supplies, and equipment as required; ensures proper temperature of food in steam tables and correct counter display; takes orders, portions, and serves food to customers; records portions served according to procedure; removes, covers, wraps, labels, stores, rotates, and discards food and condiments as directed4. Clears soiled dishes and refuse from tables in dining halls; scrapes refuse into garbage containers; loads trays and soiled dishes on conveyers, racks, and carts; removes and disposes of trash; sets up and operates dishwasher5. Cleans assigned area following proper sanitary procedures, to include equipment, counters, work and dining tables, chairs, refrigerators, utensils, and dispensers; sweeps and mops floors; vacuums carpets6. Ensures all supplies, materials, and equipment are available in assigned work areas for proper performance of duties; maintains replenishment as necessary; prepares supplies and materials as required; reports equipment malfunctions; reports need to repair equipment, furniture, building, and fixturesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Work requires the ability to read and follow instructions normally acquired through at least a partial high school education2. Six months of experience in food preparation/service or equivalent3. Understanding of proper sanitation procedures4. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions5. Ability to operate grills, deep fryers, and various cooking equipment (and meet state age requirement for operating equipment as warranted)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift up to 80 pounds2. Manual dexterity necessary to operate food preparation equipment and perform necessary cleaningENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:1. Working conditions sometimes involve exposure to excessive heat and cold associated with kitchen environment2. Exposure to various foods, cleaning chemicals, sharp utensils, and hazardous food preparation equipmentApplication Instructions:Only online applications are accepted. Salary range is $18.66 - $21.12 per hour, with single benefits. Up to 175 days per year. Up to five year's credit for similar previous work experience may be granted for initial salary placement.
