We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community.What You’ll DoAs a Career and Academic Advisor, you’ll perform responsible, independent and specialized work in the academic recruitment, advisement, registration, orientation and related functions for general student populations. (HIPPA) As part of your job responsibilities, you will create, receive, or review certain Protected Health Information (PHI). Under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, you should use and/or disclose PHI only as permitted or required to do your job, to use all reasonable efforts to maintain the security of the PHI, and to prevent the unauthorized use and/or disclosure of the PHI. You should also maintain PHI as confidential and not divulge such information to any unauthorized third party for which PHI was not intended..The Day-to-day Responsibilities Will BeAssists with New Student Orientation activities including facilitating and presenting on various topics.Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and implement retention strategies.Develops implements and monitors Intervention strategies for at-risk students (e.g., Early Alert, Academic Probation and Suspension).Serves on departmental and college committees.Advises students regarding academic programs and requirements of TSC and other colleges and universities; assists students with educational and career planning, transfer programs, and other educational and/or career options; works with individual and small groups of first-time, transfer, returning and current students to discuss placement, programs of study, career goals and major selection, academic progress, transfer, and graduation/goal completion; assists students in developing individual learning plans; and facilitates advising workshops.Who We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university.
