We will also consider candidates who can be based near another IMEG office, with the ability to maintain strong visibility and engagement across the organization.What You’ll LeadEnterprise Financial Strategy & LeadershipServe as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, shaping long-range planning, growth initiatives, and organizational strategyLead the development and execution of the organization’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunitiesProvide forward-looking financial insights and analysis to support decision-making at the executive and Board levelStrengthen the credibility and influence of the finance function through timely, accurate, and actionable reportingFinancial Operations & PerformanceOversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingEnsure the integrity and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsMonitor organizational performance through KPIs, dashboards, and financial metricsDrive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and internal controlsGrowth, Risk & Capital ManagementLead financial due diligence and analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiativesOptimize cash flow, working capital, and capital structure to support scalable growthIdentify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate exposure and enhance performanceMaintain strong relationships with external partners, including banking institutions, auditors, tax advisors, and valuation expertsEnsure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, and applicable financial and regulatory standardsTeam & Organizational LeadershipBuild, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous growthEvaluate and evolve the finance organization structure to support business needs and future scalabilityChampion change leadership and process improvement across the organizationWhat You BringAdvanced expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and performance managementExecutive presence with strong interpersonal and public speaking skillsStrong strategic thinking and proven ability to operate as a trusted business partnerDeep knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and financial governanceDemonstrated success in budget development, cost management, and operational efficiencyExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage executive leadership and Board stakeholdersProven leadership capability with a focus on talent development and team performanceHigh level of integrity, confidentiality, and business ethicsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional overnight staysEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration requiredMBA preferredMinimum of ten (10) years of experience serving as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), including significant experience in mergers and acquisitionsExperience within the engineering consulting industry preferredAs a key executive leader, this role includes a requirement for significant stock ownership to align with long-term organizational success (details provided during the process)Why Join IMEGAt IMEG, you’ll do more than lead finance—you’ll help shape the future of an organization built on ownership, collaboration, and impact.As a 100% Employee-owned Firm, We Combine The Strength Of a National Design Leader With The Agility And Culture Of a Close-knit Organization. The expected range for Illinois-based candidates is $200,000–$275,000 with adjustments for other geographic markets. Individual pay will be based on several factors including work location, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
