Engineering Analyst
The people and technology that power our Group business work is the Employee Benefit Solutions Technology (EBST) organization within Enterprise Technology. As a member of the COMET (Client Onboarding and Medical Underwriting Engineering Team), you will contribute to the development and support of systems that enable client onboarding, medical underwriting workflows, and employee benefits administration.The COMET team supports business critical platforms used daily by underwriters and client implementation teams. These systems must remain stable, scalable, and reliable, particularly during peak periods such as Open Enrollment. This role is well suited for an engineer early in their career who has strong technical aptitude, a solid foundation in software engineering fundamentals, and an interest in growing their development skills, including development in a low-code environment such as the Pega Platform.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure and enhance workflows, rules, and user interface components within a low‑code workflow platformSupport & enhance Java‑based systemsAssist with troubleshooting, defect resolution, and delivering enhancements in existing application(s), under guidance from experienced engineersLearn how business processes, workflow design, and data quality impact client onboarding and medical underwriting outcomesCollaborate with product owners, analysts, quality engineers, and other developers to deliver incremental improvementsRequired QualificationsStrong technical aptitude with a foundation in software engineering or computer science concepts (through education or hands‑on experience)Exposure to Java or object‑oriented programming, with interest in deepening hands‑on development skills over timeWillingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly, including low‑code development platforms such as PegaBasic understanding of how enterprise applications support business processes and integrate with other systemsAbility to troubleshoot issues, follow guidance, and incorporate feedback through collaboration and code reviewsStrong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and a growth mindset in a complex domainPreferred QualificationsPega CSA certification or equivalent hands‑on experienceExposure to front‑end or full‑stack development, with interest in expanding these skills as applications evolveExposure to SQL or relational databases for basic data investigationFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum development environmentsSecurian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture.
