Oncology - Medical Oncology Physician

Oncologist (MD/DO) Inpatient and Outpatient Position Summary The Medical Oncologist provides comprehensive cancer care across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with malignant and hematologic conditions, delivery of systemic cancer therapies, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and longitudinal follow-up throughout the cancer care continuum using evidence-based, patient-centered practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate and manage patients with solid tumors and/or hematologic malignanciesProvide outpatient oncology clinic care including new consultations, active treatment management, and survivorship follow-upProvide inpatient oncology consultation and management for hospitalized cancer patientsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, and supportive careMonitor treatment response and manage therapy-related toxicities and complicationsCollaborate with radiation oncology, surgical oncology, pathology, radiology, palliative care, and other specialistsParticipate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and care planning conferencesEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and goals of careCoordinate transitions of care between inpatient and outpatient settingsParticipate in on-call coverage for oncology services as requiredMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency programCompletion of an accredited Hematology and/or Medical Oncology fellowship programBoard-eligible or board-certified in Medical Oncology and/or HematologyAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Expertise in medical oncology and systemic cancer therapiesStrong clinical judgment and complex decision-making skillsAbility to manage acutely ill and chronically complex patientsExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesCommitment to evidence-based, compassionate, patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient oncology clinics, infusion centers, and hospital inpatient unitsSchedule includes a combination of clinic time, inpatient service, and call coverage depending on practice structure Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environmentsManual dexterity for examinations and office-based proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and treatment monitoring
