This role requires deep technical expertise in electrochemical processes, environmental compliance, and manufacturing efficiency improvements.Job RequirementsEquipment Selection & EngineeringEvaluate, specify, and select electroplating equipment including rectifiers, filtration systems, plating tanks, and automation componentsConduct feasibility studies for new plating technologies and equipment upgradesCollaborate with vendors to define technical specifications and performance requirementsLead equipment installation, commissioning, and validation activitiesDevelop equipment maintenance programs and troubleshooting proceduresProcess OptimizationDesign and optimize electroplating processes for improved quality, efficiency, and throughputConduct statistical process control (SPC) analysis and design of experiments (DOE) to identify process improvementsDevelop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and control plansImplement advanced process control strategies and monitoring systemsTroubleshoot complex plating defects and implement corrective actionsWastewater Treatment & Environmental ComplianceDesign and optimize wastewater treatment systems for plating operationsEnsure compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, local discharge permits)Implement waste minimization and pollution prevention strategiesMonitor and analyze wastewater chemistry and treatment system performanceDevelop emergency response procedures for environmental incidentsCost Savings & Efficiency ImprovementsIdentify and implement cost reduction opportunities in chemical consumption, energy usage, and waste disposalConduct economic analysis of process improvements and equipment investmentsLead cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence goalsDevelop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for plating operationsImplement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiativesWhat your background should look likeEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field8+ years of experience in electroplating or surface finishing operationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferredAdvanced degree (MS/PhD) in relevant field is a plusTechnical SkillsDeep understanding of electrochemical principles and plating chemistryExperience with wastewater treatment technologies (chemical precipitation, ion exchange, membrane processes)Proficiency in process simulation software and statistical analysis toolsKnowledge of environmental regulations and permit requirementsExperience with automated plating systems and process controlLeadership & CommunicationProven ability to lead technical teams and cross-functional projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience in project management and budget developmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with ISO 14001 environmental management systemsKnowledge of Six Sigma or lean manufacturing methodologiesFamiliarity with RCRA and TSCA regulationsCompetenciesValues: Integrity, Accountability, Inclusion, Innovation, TeamworkABOUT TE CONNECTIVITYTE Connectivity plc (NYSE: TEL) is a global industrial technology leader creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future.
