We encourage all interested applicants to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification as described.Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum; assessing and monitoring student progress; addressing individual learning needs; and creating a flexible, safe, and supportive learning environment. The teacher will also maintain regular communication with students, families, and administrators regarding student progress and expectations.Essential FunctionsPlan and deliver engaging Spanish instruction aligned with district curriculum goals and learning standards.Create a classroom environment that supports active learning, collaboration, and student engagement.Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that effectively utilize instructional time and support diverse learners.Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the needs of individual students, including students with special needs.Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instructional practices accordingly.Foster responsible citizenship, respectful behavior, and a positive classroom culture consistent with school expectations.Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grading, and student performance in accordance with district procedures.Communicate effectively and regularly with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional practices, and student support.Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning opportunities, and other school-related activities as appropriate.Supervise students during school-related activities and transitions as assigned.Administer assessments and standardized testing in accordance with district guidelines.Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.EquipmentUses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong understanding of middle school learners and world language pedagogyAbility to differentiate instruction to support varied learning styles and abilitiesKnowledge of instructional technology and digital learning toolsStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleaguesCommitment to professional growth and reflective practicePhysical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWorks in standard office and school building environments and remote locations.Qualifications Profile* Certification/License: NY State Spanish 5-9Education* Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Spanish, or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.* Masters Degree in related area preferred.ExperiencePrior successful teaching experience at the middle school level preferredExperience with differentiated instruction and student-centered teaching practices preferredFamiliarity with educational technology and digital learning platforms preferredFLSA Status: Exempt
