Full Stack Java Developer (Defense Programs)

Hanscom AFB, MA | Full-Time | On-Site (Limited Hybrid) $120,000–$210,000 depending on experience and clearance level *Relocation assistance may be available Join a mission-driven engineering team supporting advanced U.S. Air Force and defense research programs at AFRL. We are seeking a cleared Full Stack Software Engineer to develop secure, scalable applications in classified environments supporting national security initiatives. This role is ideal for engineers with experience in Java backend systems, frontend development, secure enterprise applications, and DevSecOps practices. Tech Stack: Java Spring Boot React Angular REST APIs Docker Kubernetes Linux Git AWS Azure CI/CD What You’ll Do: Design, develop, and maintain secure full-stack applications Build backend services and APIs using Java Develop modern web interfaces using React or Angular Support system integrations and enterprise data workflows Work within Linux-based secure environments Contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines Troubleshoot distributed systems and application performance issues Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and mission stakeholders Support Agile software development in classified environments Required Qualifications: Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain SCI eligibility required. 2+ years of professional Java development experience Experience with full-stack application development Experience working in Linux/Unix environments Familiarity with Git or other version control systems Strong problem-solving and debugging skills Ability to work on-site at Hanscom AFB Mid-level and senior candidates encouraged to apply. Preferred Skills: React or Angular Kubernetes or Docker AWS or Azure cloud experience DevSecOps / CI-CD pipeline experience XML or enterprise data integration Experience supporting DoD or classified programs Familiarity with RMF or secure software development practices Exposure to SIPRNet or JWICS environments Nice to Have: Experience with distributed systems or microservices Performance optimization experience Agile/Scrum development experience System architecture or technical leadership background Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field preferred.
