Journeyman Plumber Instructor

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plumbing and a passion for teaching adult learners. This role involves providing instruction and hands-on training to students enrolled in our plumbing apprentice program, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the plumbing industry Duties and Responsibilities Develops and delivers comprehensive lesson plans that cover all aspects of plumbing, including safety practices, tools and materials, pipe installation, drainage systems, and plumbing codes. Teaches courses as assigned and follows current approved course outlines. • Provides students with a course syllabus. Conducts classroom and practical hands-on training sessions, demonstrating proper techniques and best practices in plumbing. Assesses student performance through quizzes, tests, practical exams, assignments, and performance tasks, providing constructive feedback to help them improve. Monitors and evaluates students' progress, offering additional support and resources as needed. Maintains a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition. Maintains student records of grades and attendance in accordance with program procedures. Stays current with industry trends, standards, and regulations to provide up-to-date instruction. Collaborates with other instructors and staff to continually improve the apprenticeship program. Fosters a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere, promoting professionalism and a strong work ethic among students. Responds to student inquiries and provides feedback in a timely manner. Communicates available resources to students. Actively engages students in the learning process. Participates in the recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in the promotion of student success. Embraces, understands, and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions. Develops and delivers comprehensive lesson plans that cover all aspects of plumbing, including safety practices, tools and materials, pipe installation, drainage systems, and plumbing codes to in-person and online students. Actively engages students in the learning process in-person and online. Qualifications Licensed Journeyman Plumber Minimum of 3 years of practical plumbing experience. Previous teaching or training experience is preferred. Effective communication and people skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. Proficiency in using various plumbing tools and equipment. Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations. Patience, adaptability, and a genuine interest in helping adult learners succeed. Terms of Employment Requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which include evenings and/or weekends. All positions at Area II Plumbers JATC are required to be available for work onsite as requested. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a faculty orientation.
