Commercial Litigation Attorney

Our client, a growing, boutique law firm, has an immediate need for an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney, to join their winning team in Garden City. Our candidate of choice will bring prior New York civil litigation experience in general commercial litigation, creditor's rights, collections and judgment enforcement. We are a rapidly growing commercial litigation and creditor's rights firm with a focus in commercial collections and judgment enforcement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the firm's attorneys, support staff and colleagues in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Handle all aspects of litigation, including trial preparation, investigation, legal research, depositions, court appearances (virtual and in-person) for conferences, motions, inquests and trials; arbitration proceedings Draft and review pleadings, motion papers and briefs, discovery demands/responses, correspondence with adversaries and the courts Conduct legal research Provide timely case updates and strategic guidance to clients through regular reporting and direct communication Effectively communicate (written and verbal) with the clients, courts, adversaries and others Negotiate settlements Serve as a resource and leader to the firm's paralegals by reviewing drafts and answering questions KEY REQUIREMENTS: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school Admission to the New York State bar (admission to NJ and elsewhere a plus) 2-5 years of proven NY civil litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation and collections and/or judgment enforcement Strong knowledge in New York civil procedure Strong legal drafting skills with the ability to write clear and persuasive arguments Strong oral advocacy skills and confidence in handling oral arguments and other court appearances Excellent research skills with proficiency in using legal research databases like LexisNexis Have the desire and qualities of a leader Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Proven ability to build strong client relationships and deliver outstanding service Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines - while keeping calm Excellent computer (PC) skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Acrobat Pro, Google Workspace and the ability to quickly learn other business/productivity applications Ability to integrate into a fast-paced, team-oriented environment WE OFFER: 401(k) Health, dental & vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off & sick leave Flexible scheduling Employer-paid, fully confidential teletherapy service Summer Fridays!
