NCCER CORE CURRICCULUM INSTRUCTOR

POSITION SUMMARY NCCER Core Construction Curriculum Instructor is responsible for teaching approved curriculum to students in a Austin Community College Correctional Education Program. The instructor ensures that all core competencies are covered and prepares students to pass professional exams and obtain employment in their field of study. Responsibilities · Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner. · Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance. · Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour. · Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment. Grades and returns student work in a timely manner. · Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course. · Ensures classroom materials and equipment are used to support the goals of the course. · Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching. · Remains up to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology. · Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Master group facilitation techniques and can present program-specific courses following an established syllabus and lesson plan. · Can use motivation techniques to help stimulate a personal interest in the subject matter and establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all activities. · Must be able to modify and implement set lesson plans for specified courses to best support preparation for subsequent certification exams. · Must be punctual and dependable in making sessions and preparing them in advance, including preparing material and classroom for activities while maintaining safety and cleanliness and coordinating with appropriate staff as required. · Utilize flexible and creative approaches to meet student needs, discourage student withdrawal, and maintain retention goals. · Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs. Collaborate with Leadership and support to meet academic and career needs for all students. · Assign class work, homework, tests, and activities following the lesson plan and grade assignments in a timely fashion providing education and feedback to students to reinforce their understanding of the material and report on this progress as scheduled by internal stakeholders. · Thorough knowledge of hand and power tools and specific safety requirements when working with these tools. · Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning. · Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others. · Be innovative, creative, and motivated. · Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently. · Ability to interact, teach and communicate with a diverse population of students. · Excellent organizational skills Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and online learning resources such as Microsoft Teams Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision. · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. · Demonstrates resourcefulness · Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma Experience at a minimum journey or technician level in their area of expertise OR A minimum of three years' experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program AND Five years of related work experience in Construction Skilled Trades Preferences: Associate degree in a construction skilled trade 5-8 years of related work experience Certified Master Craftsman or Journey Worker. Preferred Qualifications: · Associate’s degree · Experience may be accepted in lieu of education · (3) years’ experience in training, teaching, or classroom facilitation; and · certification or licensure within the field from a nationally recognized organization or State agency as pertinent to the field of instruction · The incumbent must maintain current certification/license during employment as an instructor with Austin Community College · Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple constituencies to achieve mission goals · Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and oral, written, and presentation skills, including proficiency with in MS Office Word, PPT, and email · Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. · NCCER Core Instructor NCCER Master Trainer or Craft Instructor approved by the ATS to teach NCCER Curriculum, or ability to be approved by the ATS by: 1. experience at a minimum journey- or technical level (at least 4 years) in specific craft or 2. Graduate of an accredited instructor/teacher training; Experience in teaching and on the job training for students. Minimum and Additional Requirements NCCER certified instructor with a current credentials (Required) Required to pass a criminal background check and Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice Experience: Construction Management: 5 years (Preferred) Job Type: Contract Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour Experience: Teaching: 1 year (Preferred) Construction management: 5 years (Required) Ability to Commute: Georgetown, TX 78626 (Required) Ability to Relocate: Georgetown, TX 78626: Relocate before starting work (Preferred) Work Location: In person
