PostGres/SQL Database Developer

Overview In this role you design, develop, and optimize complex SQL databases and ETL processes to support mission-critical systems for CBP. You will collaborate with data analysts, developers, and stakeholders to ensure data integrity, security, and compliant data flows. You will contribute to a high-performance production environment within a federal program and guide junior engineers, delivering scalable solutions aligned with federal standards. This is a mission-driven, agile position offering impact on national security data workflows. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggersOptimize and tune SQL queries for performance and scalabilityDevelop and maintain ETL processes for data integration and migrationCollaborate with developers and business analysts to gather requirements and deliver solutionsEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance with DHS and federal standardsTroubleshoot and resolve database-related issuesDocument database processes, structures, and proceduresParticipate in code reviews and guide junior developers Key requirementsBS/BA degree and 8 years of related experience or Master’s with 6 years of related experience; OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree5+ years of SQL development experience in PostgreSQL and OracleMust be able to obtain CBP Background Investigation prior to start and be a US citizenExperience applying AI/ML within the software lifecycle and/or in AI/ML solutions for mission supportAdvanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuningExperience supporting a highly performant, mission-critical production systemExperience with ETL tools and data integration processesStrong understanding of database design, normalization, and indexingExperience with data security and compliance requirementsExcellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skillsproblem-solvinganalytical thinkingcommunicationSQL development (PostgreSQL, Oracle)ETL development and data integrationQuery performance tuning and optimization
