Java Developer - VPJava Developer - VP within Capital Markets area of Investment Solutions Technology (IST) organization, responsible for development and maintenance of various applications related to the Capital Markets platform. The primary responsibilities of the individual will be:Manage and contribute to all aspects of application development including functional and technical specifications, design, development and supportEnsure high quality of deliverables while enforcing development best practicesThe candidate will work closely with peers in delivery organizations across IST as well as colleagues in organizations across Morgan Stanley Technology, Operations and Business areas.Education: Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering, preferably Computer Science/Engineering, from a top tier UniversityRequired:At least 8 years of hands-on technical experience delivering solutions using technologies including:Java, Spring, REST services, LinuxExtensive experience with multi-tier, distributed architectureExtensive experience in OO analysis and designExcellent OO programming and debugging skillsGood understanding of SOA, XML, WSDL, XSDGood working knowledge of Relational Databases (preferably SQL Server & DB2)Strong working knowledge of multi-threaded programmingAdditional Skills: Splunk, Tomcat, Gradle, MQ, Camel and Messaging (Kafka)Non-Technical Skills:Experience should encompass:Performance engineeringBuild and deploymentReviewing issues and program defectsRecognizing system deficiencies and implementing effective solutionsEnsuring that the team(s) deliver high-quality solutions for our clientsInterviewing and hiring resourcesIn addition, the candidate should possess:Excellent analytical, and systems design skillsExcellent collaboration/teamwork skillsAbility to communicate effectively across all levels within Technology, Business and OperationsExcellent presentations skills: communicate in a clear and concise manner; individually or in front of a group.Capability to approach problems as challenges and deal with them constructively while promoting this approach to other team members.Ability to set an example for team members in the following manner: hard work, a focus on client delivery, preparedness, organization, a positive attitude and respect for others.Development experience within the financial/banking industry strongly preferred
